A new home in St James’s

The oval sign came down, travelled a few streets south, and went up again. After a century in and around Savile Row — Duke Street first, then long decades at No. 20 — Welsh & Jefferies moved in November 2025 to 10A Charles II Street, St James’s.

It is, in a quiet way, a homecoming. The firm was incorporated in March 1917 at 15 Duke Street, St James’s; the parish is old ground. The Row itself is a few minutes’ walk — near enough that nothing about the trade has had to change.

What travelled with us: the paper patterns, the cloth books, the regimental shields, the gilt mirrors and the green Chesterfield. What did not change: the cut. Savile Row tailoring, now at home in St James’s.

The shop is open Monday to Friday, 10:00–17:30 — appointments recommended.
